bswift Named One of Chicago’s 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For in 2010

CHICAGO, IL — Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

bswift, a leader in software and services for employee benefits administration, announced today that the National Association for Business Resources (NABR) named the firm one of Chicago's 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in 2010. The award will be presented August 2nd during the NABR's awards celebration at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook.

NABR selected bswift for its innovative strategies and best practices in human resources. The company believes that engaging employees in a fun and appreciative workplace boosts morale, strengthens company culture and increases productivity. bswift's company values are: Higher Standards, Greater Accountability and More Fun.

For bswift, Human Resources (HR) is a highly strategic function. The company considers people to be as critical to its overall success as its software technology. The bswift Vice President of HR is a member of the senior management team reporting to the CEO. bswift also has a "Chief Fun Officer" (CFO) who is an integral part of the firm's culture and an essential source of ideas and input for senior management.

Says bswift CEO Rich Gallun: "At bswift, we believe there are three critical factors for attracting and retaining talent and engaging employees: The first is the development of best-in-class products and services that employees take pride in. Second is a fun environment that develops camaraderie, fosters creativity and spurs employees to be proactive. We find that the little things — whether it's watching episodes of '30 Rock' together over lunch or participating in fitness and nutrition competitions — go much further than traditional corporate benefits in building a motivating and fulfilling workplace. And third, we are a very transparent company where strategic and financial information is shared and individual contributions are recognized. When employees can see how their work makes a difference, it breeds loyalty and creates a sense that 'we're part of something special.'"

A unique bswift recognition program allows employees to acknowledge and appreciate each other on an online employee portal, using the company's own innovative technology. Highlights of jobs well done along with pictures of the employee are posted on the portal and on TV monitors throughout the offices for all to see. This simple tool facilitates frequent, timely and specific recognition and allows for peer-to-peer recognition as well as traditional top-down recognition.

The NABR established the Best & Brightest award program to honor companies that recognize employees as their greatest asset and to showcase policies and best practices that demonstrate why each of the recognized companies is an ideal place to work.

This year's winners were judged in the following categories: Communication, Community Initiatives, Compensation and Benefits, Diversity and Multi-Culturalism, Employee Education and Development, Employee Engagement and Commitment, Recognition and Retention, Recruitment and Selection, and Work-Life Balance. The rigorous selection process includes the review of quantitative and qualitative data by an independent market research company and extensive employee surveys.
