bswift Announces Executive to Lead Wellness & Consumerism Strategies: Brad Wolfsen

CHICAGO, IL — Tuesday, June 11th, 2013

bswift, a leader in cloud-based technology and services for employee benefits and health exchanges, announced today the addition of Brad Wolfsen as Executive Director of Exchange Solutions. As a key member of bswift’s executive team, Wolfsen will be responsible for bswift Exchange Solutions, plus wellness and consumerism strategies to support bswift’s clients.

Wolfsen brings 12 years of experience in health care, benefits and technology. As President of Safeway Health—a venture to commercialize Safeway’s health benefit solutions—he built and led Safeway’s wellness and reference pricing programs. Under his leadership, Safeway saved hundreds of millions of dollars in health benefit costs for itself and its clients.

“We continue to see an increasing interest in wellness and transparency as long term cost control strategies, and Wolfsen has the experience and insights to make a real financial impact for our clients,” noted bswift CEO Rich Gallun.

Prior to Safeway Health, Wolfsen led the corporate strategy group at Safeway during his 6-year tenure there, most recently as Vice President of Strategy and Health Initiatives. “Wolfsen has a unique background in building same store growth in Safeway retail stores and can incorporate that experience to help our clients ‘stock the shelves’ of their exchanges with products that consumers will actually want to buy,” added Don Garlitz, Executive Director, bswift Exchange Solutions. “We are thrilled to have Wolfsen join our team and expect him to add immediate value as a thought leader in the industry.”

Wolfsen has also held positions at Booz & Company and Deloitte where he advised clients in the health care, biopharmaceutical, technology and consumer product sectors. Wolfsen received his undergraduate degree in economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and earned his MBA from the University of Chicago.
